Overview

This course provided a brief introduction into the Linux operating system. This also provided experience using the command line to issue commands to the operating system, such as adding and managing users and groups, as well as files. It also provided an in depth look at how operating systems function on a more granular level. Some of these insights were how the operating system file hierarchy is organized, system administrator accounts, and file protections.

What I Learned

I learned a lot in this course, including the use of the command line, operating system file structure, users and their associated permissions, and an introduction into the workings of operating systems. This class provided me with some very useful experience using the command line and introducing me to commands and how to use them more efficiently. I was also introduced to what the Linux operating system, and others, do in order to keep the system running efficiently, manage resources and provide security within the structure.
