B.S. Computer Science, May 2026
I had a professor tell me that the point of computer science is to take the “magic” out of how computers work and develop a deeper understanding of the hardware, software, performance, limitations, and the overall system’s design. That is an accurate portrayal of my experience of computer science. It truly has been a pleasure to gain insights into the field of computer science including its current challenges, limitations, and recent developments.

Why Technology?
Ever since I was younger, I had a fascination in technology. My brother and I would open the computer case to see how it worked. I would dig into the setting to see what could be changed, look in awe at the motherboard inside the PC, and wonder how it did what it did. It truly seemed like magic!
I started college at the University of Utah in the fall of 2012 as an architecture major, and after my first year changed majors to computer science. This is where I discovered my passion for computer programming and the deeper understanding of computer science. How cool is it to be able to go from an idea to a working application?
